When we are young we may not recognize it, but parents are the best counselors we can have in life!
One of the main lessons that parents must teach their children is the concept of freedom and respect for others. We live in a free society, where everyone has the right to express their ideas (with the respective consequences, of course) and we must respect each person’s individuality, just as each individual must respect his own.
There are bad things in the world, without a shadow of a doubt… But there are also very good things, no one can deny it!
And this is another important lesson: learning to see the positive side of life!
Bear in mind that even in the most difficult situations we must maintain optimism and hope.
Parents should not demand that their children be perfect, but be aware that they can YES make mistakes. The main learning here is not in “being perfect”, but in the ability to learn from the mistakes made.
Failures are fundamental to people’s growth. Parents need to teach their children not to give up at the first mistakes, but to keep getting up with every tumble they take, shake the dust and turn around!
Being around people who give you good energy is essential to having a happy life. It is important for parents to teach their children the importance of valuing true friendship.
Many people may doubt and question your abilities, but if you NEVER put your value in “check”, believe that you will be able to conquer all your dreams!
And finally, the main message that parents must pass on to their children is based on two small and great phrases: “I love you” and “I’m proud of you”.
Children – especially when they are small – need to feel the encouragement and security of support from the people they consider most important in their lives: their parents.
“Teach a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 NIV
