Considered one of the main teams of master Jiu-jitsu athletes (over 30 years old) in Paraná, Dennis Jiu-jitsu Club from Maringá is today one of the holders of the largest number of athletes who stand out in the main competitions in Brazil and in the world . The most recent demonstration came in Rio de Janeiro at the Brazilian National 2021 – organized by the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Confederation (CBJJ).
The championship is considered by the professors as the main one in the country and for many, more difficult than any international competition, after all, Brazil is still the biggest ‘exporter’ source of talent in the gentle art in the world. One of the team’s highlights was the brown belt Juares Santos. The ultra-heavy skinny – current number 1 in the world in the category – won first place on the podium at weight and in the absolute.
Another who returned to competition is veteran Maykel Marques. In the brown belt, he got the silver. “They are two experienced competitors who had very difficult fights and represented our team well. In the case of Juares, once again, he showed that training and dedication give expressive results. He is an athlete who has made a difference”, said Edenilson Lima team creator – Dennis – who remains in the United States.
In Brazil, Dennis Jiu-jitsu Club is an arm of Lead BJJ – headed by Professor Bruno Bastos. In Maringá, the person responsible for guiding the athletes in competitions is the black belt Anderson Sarris, who has in his curriculum the conquest of South American in the black belt, among other achievements – such as the Brazilian and several open competitions organized by the CBJJ.
“I learned a lot being close to great names in the gentle art, great athletes and great coaches, and I can only thank for this privilege. Learning has been constant and this reflects the athletes who went to compete and brought great results, athletes who, however hard our lives are in this period of pandemic, committed to giving their maximum in training and paid the price of making the difference that it’s necessary to be champion, and that’s worthy of praise because it’s really not easy,” said Sarris.
“Thanks to God and my family, especially my wife Caina Santos. Thanks to my team Dennis Jiu-jitsu for helping me in training, to my masters Anderson Sarris and Edenilson Lima for their confidence in representing the team. To my students, thank you for all the support”, emphasized Santos after the victory in Rio de Janeiro.
